The track listing, in addition to telling you the song names also serves as a who’s who list. Rhythms, beats, and hooks are all in tack and if you’re a Wyclef fan you’ll enjoy this release.

As soon as you hear Middle Distance Runner, a handful of indie-pop bands come to your mind that you can compare them with. Middle Distance Runner is interesting enough and sets themselves apart enough though that it is only a matter of time until people are comparing other bands to them.
Is it just me or [...]

We’ve (or I have) been hearing about these bands lately that a lot of people have not heard about and are/or unsigned. Ely Falls is another one of these bands, check out their Virb page for a full stream of their album.

Although the EP is worth buying (and loving), the only two songs that may find your interest on the first listen will probably be “Into The Flood” and “We’re The Ones That Keep You Warm”. The band definitely keeps getting better with every release.

Ford Turrell was someone I randomly came across but was pretty quickly hooked on. He has a distinct and personal sound that should be welcomed by anyone looking for a good acoustic/folk/rock artist.

One of the nice things of running the site is that I can plug all the bands and artists I really enjoy. This is just a quick post to mention some of the Daily Recs that I have really enjoyed and may not have gotten that much exposure.

Anyone aware of Desoto Jones? They came out with a new album on Nov. 20th on the Deep Elm label but they are not the typical Deep Elm band. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Were you wondering what happened to the arguably one hit wonder band? Well they have a new EP with the same poppy sound that made them something in the first place. Overall the album is not hard to listen to and rather catchy but there are still a bunch of things that ultimately make it [...]

Check out the band The Cab, they remind me of Melee with their pop-rock style. I’m definitely looking forward to their new album coming in ‘08.

To get right to the point, there is no reason to buy this record and it is simply an attempt at a money grab. While the actual album ‘Riot!” is worth a look, save your money and don’t buy the ’special edition’ version.

I hear a lot people say that they prefer male vocalist to female ones and to be honest I probably fall in that category too, as I’m sure many of you do. That being said, I absolutely love Stacy Clark’s new record “Apples And Oranges”.

I may be slow to the party on checking out Reign Of Kindo but I loved This Day And Age and thus I love Reign Of Kindo. Check out this band that labels themselves (appropriately) indie-jazz.

The album really contains all type of styles and songs from the The Format. If you’ve been reading the site you know how I feel about putting “demos” on albums (even rarities ones) so I won’t mention that I’m not a fan of it. Even more than the countless other rarities albums coming out this [...]

Happy Thanksgiving.
Here’s a lesser known (semi-independent) artist with a lot of potential. Brandon Clark’s new album is streaming in full. The album is full of mellow acoustic grove rock that should be relevant to young and old. We also have an exclusive download right here.
What are you thankful for?

I don’t personally think Dead Poetic is at the point in their career where they need to release a “best of” album. The band only has 3 full length albums out. I mean, shouldn’t you have at least 5 or more to be able to have a “best of” album? Anyway, I think the band’s [...]

Just like all special editions and deluxe editions of albums, you probably don’t need to spend the extra money to re-buy the album. The 6 lives songs are fantastic quality, so good in fact, there were times I forgot I was listening to a live song which kind of defeats the purpose, right? First time [...]

While the album has a lot of potential, there are more things wrong than right. The indie-pop group which is in the same ball park as The New Pornographers and Belle & Sebastian is not on the same level quality wise (both in production and content).

I was randomly going through the spam comments and noticed a few people’s comments were ending up being marked as spam. Sorry about that, I’ll try and correct it. All the comments should be under the appropriate posts now though.
The spam catcher does a fantastic job but sometimes too good of a job I guess. [...]
