Full Review: Your Sweet Uncertainty - Self Titled

4If you are into name dropping then you will appreciate that Jeff Kummer who used to be in The Early November is now the drummer for Your Sweet Uncertainty. If you don’t need names to get you interested in a band then you should simply look at Your Sweet Uncertainty the way you would any other independent band who plays amazingly music.

There is nothing overly unique about the band’s debut album except that melodies are contagious, the songs well constructed and every song has something valuable to offer.

I can not say enough good things about “Hey Baby”. The song is filled with hook after hook both in the lyrics and the music. “Thoughts of Time” should take you back a few years with it’s late 90’s rock style. The guitars drop out during the verses leaving only the bass and drums, another move that is a nod to past bands of this same style. These are the two songs that originally got me excited to hear this album.

“The Shredder”, “When The Lights Go Dim”and “The Rock Out” are some of the other stand out tracks. Like I said before, all the tracks have something to offer but the ones I just mentioned are memorable and will most likely be stuck in your head at some point.

Album closers have a special place in my heart and “End Scene” is no different. While the song is not out of place on the record it has a different feel and style to it than the rest of the songs. There is a slight Early November feel that the song’s chorus gives off with its heavier instrumentation and strained singing. I love the song to death and am glad it was saved until the end of the album.

I am always a bit nervous about unsigned bands as you never know what you might get but rest assured Your Sweet Uncertainty deliver a soon to be classic album.
