Full Review: Grey Holiday - The Glorious Revolution

4.jpgGrey Holiday’s album “The Glorious Revolution” might be one of the catchiest, pop-rock EP’s that most people won’t hear because they simply don’t know about it. The tight, polished songs are staggeringly above par as far as debut releases go. Don’t let this be the best EP you never listened to in 2007.

It’s a safe bet to say that you will be hooked after the first chorus of the first song. If the you have not jumped on board by then there is a chance you’re not listening to the same band as me. “Glorious” is the lead track and sets the stage for what you can expect to get out of this record. Among the first things that stick out is the rock music that is mixed with hints of electronic beats and sounds. The electronic effects add to the clean-cut musical foundation which strong, familiar vocals reside on top of.

“Let Go” and “Revolution” both incorporate loud choruses. The music raises a few notches and fills the speakers with intense sound. In “Let Go” the second half of the chorus brings in the sound as the band sings “Let go…” over and over. In the song “Revolution” a more straight forward approach is taken with the pounding chorus that sparks images of passion.

“You Belong To Me” and “Low” are the two slower songs on the album which musically, are mostly driven by piano. Arguably the vocals drive all the songs and fit the style of music so perfectly that they both blend in and stick out.

Like all my favorite CD’s this one is too short. The full length album that proceeds this fantastic start will be nothing less than stellar I’m positive.
