Top 10 Albums

10. Your Sweet Uncertainty - Self Titled
Much like another record on this list, This album struck a sweet chord with it’s style of music that I’m a sucker for. The style of rock is simple yet gets stuck in your head always leaving you wanting more. Check this band out.

Favorite Song: “Hey Baby” / “End Scene”

9. Stacy Clark - Apples and Oranges
I’m almost ashamed to admit I like this album as much as I do but all the songs are just wonderful. Even if you’re not drawn to female vocalists or this style of music, this is still a record you need to listen to.

Favorite Song: “Empty Bottles”

8. Anberlin - Cities
I was definitely looking forward to this album by Anberlin as the band seems to just get better with each release, ‘Cities’ being no exception. The album is focused and strong the whole way through, I’m not sure why these songs don’t get played on the radio.
Favorite Song: “Dismantle. Repair.”

7. Northern Room - Last Embrace [Deluxe Edition]
I was hooked with the song “We’re On Fire” but every other song on the record is solid. This band knows how to write slow songs as well as a catchy radio single.

Favorite Song: “We’re On Fire”

6. Robbie Seay Band - Give Yourself Away
This has to be one of the most positive and joyful albums to come out this year. Every song is full of love and optimism making it great for rough times.

Favorite Song: “Song of Hope”

5. Lifehouse - Who We Are
Past Lifehouse albums were always mediocre with a few good songs. Usually half way through the CD all the songs started sounding the same. I never would have thought this album would be as good as it is. The band tweaked a few things, added a few more hooks, along with a little bit more straight up rock and the outcome of ‘Who We Are’ is awesome.

Favorite Song: “The Storm”

4. Dustin Kensrue - Please Come Home
I love the lyrics, I love the country/folk style, I love everything except that there are only 8 songs on the record. I can’t wait for more.
Favorite Song: “Please Come Home”

3. Athlete - Beyond The Neighbourhood
Athlete is a an intellectual pop band that has their hooks deeply planted in rock. The record is catchy and addictive but also deep and meaningful.

Favorite Song: “It’s Not Your Fault”

2) Hot Rod Circuit - The Underground Is A Dying Breed
I’ve been a fan of Hot Rod Circuit for awhile but this album just hit a sweet spot and took me back in time. I have yet to get tired of these songs as the replay value is huge. If you need some good punk rock to listen to, pick up a copy of ‘The Underground Is A Dying Breed’.

Favorite Song: “45’s”

1) Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light
This is one of the best, if not the best Jimmy Eat World record to date, enough said.

1. Switchfoot - “Amateur Lovers”

Great list! You should give A Strange Education by The Cinematics a listen. One of the best I’ve heard in a LONG time!

Northern Room is en route to my house right now, with an expected 5 of 5 review coming soon!!

nice, you’ll like the entire NR disc.

what would your list be?

mudpuppy  on December 13th, 2007

It was a short list.

I’ve been sort of a Mute Math nut this year. I’ve been to 3 of their shows in 2007.

I’m liking your top 10…especially Jimmy Eat World at the top…but you missed Angels & Airwaves’ new album “I-Empire”.
