Search The City is a new name for most of you reading this. Some of you may have had your interest peaked by the fact that the band is signed to Tooth and Nail records, or maybe have heard a song or two online and are trying to find out whether the newer band is [...]

Conspiracy Theory #1: Labels Leaking Fake Albums

Simply for the sake of thought or conversation I’ll throw out a conspiracy theory. What if a label wanted to promote a newer band or artist and to get a word of mouth movement, what would be an effective way of doing that?
What if a label leaked the new bands album under a different, high profile [...]

Full Review: Delirious - Kingdom Of Comfort

Believe it or not ‘Kingdom of Comfort’ is the UK band’s 8th studio album. After over a decade of making music the band continues to find that spark, that sets them apart from so many other bands, and puts it into ‘Kingdom of Comfort’.

In the face of so many power pop failures, Mercy Mercedes succeeds.

1 Liner: Delirious - Kingdom of Comfort

Every album Delirious releases is slightly different than their previous one. Some records really bring out the bands strengths while others don’t hit quite as hard. ‘Kingdom of Comfort’ is a mixed bag of some of the band’s best work to date such as “All God’s Children” but others like “Eagle Rider” seem to fall [...]

Full Review: Counting Crows - Saturday Nights And Sunday Mornings

Counting Crows is hardly a band that needs much if any introduction. After putting out so many records the band has the liberty to stretch their creative boundary and this album is an attempt at just that. In many ways this is the best record that the band has released and one that should bring [...]

’Time is Fiction’ by Edison Glass is an amazing album that you probably missed when in came out earlier this year.
We are going to start adding this “Need To Know” Badge next to daily recs or other bands that are good and may get lost in the shuffle.  Edison Glass, is definitely a need to [...]

1 Liner: Dizmas - Self Titled

Rock band Dizmas, is making their leap to a more mainstream label with a new self titled record. The album is decent but it feels incomplete. Half the songs are mainstream friendly that follow cookie cutter molds, the other half is a repetitive rock style from the band’s indie past.

Thrice: Air Or Earth?

We are a little more than 2 weeks from the release of Thrice’s second elements album. The band has officially released 1 song from both Air and Earth. The question is which do you like better so far and which do you think will be the best once you’ve heard the entire thing?
Vol III: Air

Best Music Day?

It’s looking like April 29th will be the day to beat as having the most potentially great CD’s all come out on the same day. Visit our Google release calendar to find out why.

Lovedrug is a great rock band who you need to check out right now. I would start with “Castling” and then listen to “Thieving”.

Mix Tape Recommendations

We might start doing some daily rec’s as mix tapes or create weekly mixtapes if the idea works out.
Check out The Album Project’s first mix tape and  let us know what you think.

1 Liner: Scenes And Sirens - The South Will Dance Again

The album is one that can only be described as “Huh, well that’s interesting”. The pop/dance band have been making waves already without being signed to a label which most likely means you’ll be hearing more from them in the future. There are a couple tolerable tracks on the EP but most are skip-able.

Full Review: Shawn Mcdonald - Roots

Pop artist Shawn McDonald may not be a household name quite yet but if he keeps releasing solid albums like ‘Roots’, it won’t be too long.

Anathallo already has a strong group of devoted fans mostly from word of mouth, so here’s your invitation to check them out. By the way they do have a song from their new record up to listen to.

Boring At The Disco

After watching the video below of Panic At The Disco performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, I realize just how tame and, can I say boring, the band is. There is some sort of reality distortion field around the band that has been created in promo photos, music videos and even the albums that makes this [...]

1 Liner: Holiday Parade - To You From Us EP

This is Holiday Parade’s acoustic EP which is about what you would expect. The songs are all sugary choruses which are extremely polished. “My Philosophy” has be one of the best live versions of a song I’ve heard in a long time.

1 Liner: Search The City - A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It

I’m not quite sure if it’s because I wasn’t expecting anything from this band but the album is so enjoyable all the way through. The musical formula is very predictable but in spite of that it’s still a good listen.

Full Review: Jon Foreman - Spring EP

‘Spring’ is the third of 4 season EP’s being released by Switchfoot lead singer Jon Foreman. Like the past albums that have already been released, Spring is able to create a sense of the mentioned season by the use of certain instruments and melodies.

Despite being on a fairly high profile label I’m sure there are still people unaware of The Cab. I made this band’s new album, Whisper War, one of my top 5 album albums that I was looking forward to in 2008. Listen to their 2 new songs and let me know if I made a [...]

Search The Hype

As Search The City continues to slowly drip songs to the public through their myspace player my interest in their record goes up and up. The newest song, “The Rescue” along with “Ambulance Chaser” are my favorites.

1 Liner: Jon Foreman - Spring EP

Jon Foreman’s relaxed style is put the test slightly when it collides with a season that demands cheery melodies. While the album is in line with the other seasons it is definitely the peppiest to date. As always the singer/songwriter is worlds beyond most and this album is a must buy.

In honor of Jon Foreman’s Spring EP being released, he is being recommended. The Switchfoot lead singer has created some of the most delicate and honest music. Even if you don’t like Switchfoot, check out his music and give it a chance.

1 liner: Starfield - I Will Go

Starfield seem to mature tenfold with every album they put out, ‘I Will Go’ being no exception. The songs are so strong and polished that it hurts. Worship leaders running low on new material will enjoy this album.
