Concept records are nothing new but in the last year we’ve had 2 major players release themed albums. Thrice had 4 EP’s based on the elements and Jon Foreman had (will have) 4 EP’s based on the seasons. The question is which do you prefer and who did a better job?
Overall I think Thrice’s concept of recreating the elements in musical form was on the harder end, as apposed to the seasons. The seasons tend to be a broader arena which songs can be interpreted as.

I love both, no doubt, but I think Foreman has made some masterpieces. His songs are so packed with intrigue and meaning.
