San Diego band Lanterns have a energetic indie rock style which definitely has something to it. The newest EP is rough but still shows the enormous potential.

The song opens with familiar piano and then Andrew’s strained comes over the speakers. “Miss California” is the first (non Youtube) glimpse at the new Jack’s Mannequin record. The song is a b-side from the record, made available instantly for download when you pre-order the new album.

Who knows how long this site will be around but Mixturtle allows you to search for artists or songs and instantly listen to pretty much anything. Doing a few quick tests for “Jon Foreman” and “The New Frontiers” among others, I found it works quickly as well as pretty accurately.

I’m not sure what number studio vlog this is but here is the latest from the Mute Math recording studio.
For those not familiar with Blindside they are a hardcore band from Sweden. The band has been around for a long time but never seemed to break though in a big way. Here’s hoping that they put out a new full length record before the end of the year.

Lead singer of The Get Up Kids and The New Amsterdams, Matt Pryor dives into the solo artist world with a beautiful effort. The album is definitely countrified with lots of picking, harmonicas and banjos but no matter your preference to the “country” style, graceful melodies make up for any downfalls.

I’d like to formally recommend Esterlyn who may have a hard name to pronounce, but still know how to rock. Mostly upbeat and full of passion, the band really can grab your attention.

US Royalty doesn’t have much to offer in terms of available music but the new digital EP should help to hold people over until they can get a full length album out.
Anybody else surprised this band, Esterlyn, isn’t on Tooth & Nail Records? I am thoroughly impressed after randomly coming across their new record. They definitely have a very friendly rock sound in the same vain as Search The City and Dizmas among others. Any thoughts?
The Midway State are a weird mix between The Kooks and Ben Folds both musically and vocally. ‘Holes’ is an excellent album, dynamic, rich, and deep and should do well for the Canadian band. “Never Again” is an example of the pop sense the band carries while “Holes” exemplifies the thoughtful, reflective side.

The EP is only 3 songs long but so full of potential. US Royalty blend faint elements of the indie pop which has been going around with some good old fashion light-hearted rock.

Think of the not-as-quite indie version of Vampire Weekend and you’ve got U.S. Royalty. The stuff on their Myspace is really addictive and worth listening to. Can’t wait for their new album coming out as it should provide some good end of summer music.
