You Probably Missed A Great Album

Good Old War is a newer band made up of former Days Away members including vocalist Keith Goodwin. The overall style falls somewhere in between folk/acoustic and mellow rock. The entire album is acoustic, much like what Northstar did with their new band Cassino.

There is a good chance you missed this record because you didn’t realize the quality or you just missed the coverage, either way, this post is meant as a second chance to discover a band and an album that has the potential to make a lot of people’s top 10 list for 2008.

Days Away early material was, in my opinion, their best stuff and when it was slowed down and rerecorded for ‘Mapping An Invisible World’ it didn’t come out quite the same, or quite as good. The album from Good Old War, ‘Only Way To Be Alone’ shows the rough and raw style that Days Away had so long ago.

Fan of Anthony Green? Well his newest solo record, ‘Avalon’ features Good Old War as the backing band on the album. Need another reason to love this band? Here are 6 other reasons on the band’s Myspace page to try and convince you. Start with “Coney Island” first and then jump into “Just Another Day”.
