Full Review: Death In The Park – Self Titled EP

When one door closes, another one opens. Hot Rod Circuit ended and crushed a bunch of hearts in the process but Death In The Park is picking up where the other band left off.

Obviously we could go on and on about the similarities between Hot Rod Circuit and Death In The Park because Andy Jackson sung for both. The only thing that really needs to be said is that the new band and old one are definitely related, if not twins in different clothes. The same youthful, vocal distinct, rock is present through out this collection of 5 songs and makes any former fans feel right at home instantly.

“Pitifully Exposed” opens the floodgates with the kind of energy the beginning of a record needs. The melody hangs on the song’s title as it gets sung during the catchy-enough chorus. “Do You Want Me” wastes no time breaking into the passionate wails of “Do you want me now…” but eventually does clam down slightly for the bridge later in the song.

“Walk Away” and “Fallen” are both acoustic recording but both add additional instrumentation to fill the sound. “Fallen” also features vocals from Haley Williams who you may know from a little band named Paramore. Haley’s vocals really adds to the track’s charm and even though the recording is a bit rough (like most of the songs) it manages to shine bright.

There are few albums that I have fallen faster for besides this one. The self titled EP is a winner by all accounts and worth getting.
