Full Review: Auld Lang Syne – Where My Fortune Lies

5of5 As the first song, “Where My Fortune Lies” begins I keep thinking, “man, as long as they don’t screw this up, this is going to be epic”. The whole record is only 2 songs long which is about as short as short gets but nevertheless hours of emotion pour out of the 8 1/2 minute album which crams country, soul, and indie styles together to produce a marvelous concoction. “50 Years” sounds like an old hymn, weathered and tired, that triumphs it’s cause breathing life and passion with each word sung.

The opening song is one that hooks you from the start never falters in it’s 5 minute journey, only growing stronger as it marches on. Hints of The Snake, The Cross, The Crown seem to creep in as the band concludes the track repeating “I know where my fortune lies…” over and over. This is a magnificent, and truly amazing 2 song record.
