1 Liner: The Working Title – Bone Island
The Working Title, or the skeleton that’s left of the original band, has progressively gone down a road filled with darker tones and grungier rock, ‘Bone Island’ the best example. The album definitely has it’s moments, but on the whole it doesn’t have the same appeal that ‘About Face’ did. Fans of Lovedrug are the ones who should be running to this release as The Working Title has been moving in on their unique style.

I presume with Joel being the only one in the band can explain the massive overhaul of their sound. I loved About Face however, this new album seems to be going in the Singer-songwriter with a folkly twist direction. Its quite different from their old style. Enjoyable yes but it feels almost like a whole new band.

I wish they/he would have changed the name instead of using the working title

not to bash about-face, because there were some strong moments there for a band finding its style. but i happen to think that bone island is an incredible artistic progression – and is more listenable for the feat.
part of it is the “band” itself (listen to officina and tell me that he’s not a great songwriter), and part of it is jake sinclair, who is flat-out ridiculous (www.jakesinclair.com- do it). although i’m pretty sure he just found a beautiful and unreleased john lennon song and claimed it as his own for “what’s your heart for?”………
but i digress.
my only gripe is the vocal inflection in “hijackers.” but chalk that up to the subject matter, mood, intent of the song. bone island is beautiful and a masterpiece.
