Full Review: The Get Up Kids – Simple Science

“Your Petty Pretty Things” immediately reconnects The Get Up Kids with an audience full of eager ears. Without the slightest hint of overhyped filler, the song plays on like an updated b-side from ‘Something To Write Home About’. From a band that helped define emotional pop/rock comes just what you might expect, solid emotional pop/rock.
“Keith Case” turns up the static, somehow keeping a smooth edge which presumably comes from Matt Pryor’s timeless vocals. The song wants to breakout several times, but doesn’t give in until half way through, proving the anticipation is worth the wait.
Like “I’ll Catch You” or “Hannah Hold On”, which gracefully close out other albums from the band, “How You’re Bound” keeps its steady beat for 6+ minutes ending the EP much too early, but on the right note. There’s nothing wrong with these songs and no reason not to buy this vinyl or digital record as soon as possible.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but wow, this is like EXACTLY the record the Get Up Kids needed to put out. I highly enjoy it.

KevCo put it perfectly. I also didn’t know what was going to happen, but something great happened! They’re never going to take over the world, but if they keep putting out music like this they will blow up.

They only made 10,000 CD copies and they’re all hand numbered, I’m 7,181. I pre-ordered mine a couple of weeks ago so if you want one you might be out of luck.
