The acoustic band Cassino, which came out of the breakup of Northstar, has suddenly and without very much warning put out their 2nd record titled ‘Kingprince’.

The all acoustic album falls very much inline with the previous effort, even including a couple of the same songs. If you’re a fan of bands like Good Old War, Cassino would be a good fit for you.

You Probably Missed A Great Album

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Good Old War is a newer band made up of former Days Away members including vocalist Keith Goodwin. The overall style falls somewhere in between folk/acoustic and mellow rock. The entire album is acoustic, much like what Northstar did with their new band Cassino.

There is a good chance you missed this record because you didn’t realize the quality or you just missed the coverage, either way, this post is meant as a second chance to discover a band and an album that has the potential to make a lot of people’s top 10 list for 2008.

1 Liner: Good Old War – Only Way To Be Alone

Former members of Days Away have decided a country/indie/folk sound is their new direction and I’m glad because it works so well. Similar to how Northstar alumni started the acoustic band Cassino, Keith and Tim have embarked on a new path. “Coney Island”, which opens the album is one of the album’s highlights and should be a good song to bridge the transition for some fans.

Days Away was unique in that their fans loved them and talked about them contently but they weren’t actually that well known. Keith and Tim from Days Away have since started a new band called Good Old War, which is something people may want to pay attention to. The band has their heels firmly dug in the acoustic/folk/rock arena which is a wonderful thing as Keith’s voice works perfectly.
