Below is an update from Jeff Caylor regarding the recording of his new album. If you haven’t given him a listen, please do.
Last week, I was fortunate to get some time in Randy Rubsamen’s studio with Jon Collins and Don McCaleb, my good friends and amazing musicians. We cut drums and bass parts for 9 songs that will appear on my next CD. The working title is What Birds Dream. I also recorded vocals for 5 songs on Sunday and will continue to track vocals this coming week. I’m sending at least 3 more songs to the very talented Gavin Harrison who will handle production duties on those tracks. After everything is said and done, I hope to release What Birds Dream in the fall or early winter with 14 or 15 songs.
Awesome video, awesome album.
Most people need to hear or see something about 3 times before it takes hold and they try it. Here is a list of some of the independent artists that you should check out and deserve attention. If you’ve seen them mentioned on the site before but haven’t listened, now is your chance.
* The Heyday – Pop/Punk
* Driver F – Energetic rock
* Jeff Caylor – Acoustic
* Boris Smile – Folk/Rock/Pop
* Standard Of Living – Piano rock
For those that don’t know, Amie Street is a digital music store which is based on the idea of supply and demand. The most popular stuff being more expensive and less popular not as costly (up to like $9.99 for an album). The other great thing is Amie Street supports the artists with 70% of song sales. The long winded explanation was so that we could announce that The Album Project will be doing a weekly recommendation for the site.
Feel free to leave suggestions of artists we should feature that sell their music on Amie Street. If you are an artist let us know if you do put your music up so we can check it out.
Our first featured artist is Jeff Caylor. Please give him a listen as you shouldn’t be disappointed.
Laid back acoustic music mixed with soothing vocals make this indie artist a hidden gem. The songs stories being told in such interesting (and sometimes simple) ways that you keep getting more and more out of them with each listen. It’s hard to hide this much talent for long. This is a must own record.
