We’ve recommended Nada Surf before a few times but there are still people that haven’t given them a shot and when they finally do, they’ll be kicking themselves that they didn’t sooner. We made their song “Weightless” our pick, for song of the year, mostly because it has such a rich melody combined with an airy innocence that gives it a great repeat factor. If you have any doubt, give the song a listen.

Listening to Vic Kingsley’s new full length album I was swept up in how good it is. This is the great thing about running a music site where I can recommend these amazing bands that don’t get the exposure they deserve. Definitely give the band a spin if you are into Nada Surf, Travis, Mute Math, Barcelona, Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, As Tall As Lions or any other similar bands.

Nada surf is a band that has been around for along time so chances are, like me, you’ve at least heard of them. Truth be told this is the first time I’ve actually I listened to a whole album and it makes me wish I had earlier. The album has a sound that is so contemporary to what is popular now that it should do very well although it seems obvious the band wasn’t writing for the popularity and fame.

This is likely to be a contender for one of the best indie rock records in 2008. The songs fill a spectrum of different styles while all fitting nicely together on a single album.
