1 Liner: Bebo Norman – Self Titled

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

This is definitely the music your parents have been looking for. Bebo Norman plays to an interesting crowd as his music and style scream out “Adult Contemporary” but interestingly enough there seems to be a fair amount of younger people drawn towards his smooth voice and solid acoustic based rock. The new self titled album is exactly what you would expect with very little is any surprises, and so if you’re a fan you probably still will be and if not there’s not a lot to see here.

1 Liner: Finch – Self Titled EP

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Finch, who had de-banded, are now back together and released a new self titled EP. The record is a taste of a new, reinvented style which fans of ‘What It Is To Burn’ can get behind. Opening with “Daylight” the familiar vocal style along with the gritty, in your face rock, are all in tact and yet this is not the same old stuff simply repackaged.

1 Liner: Man Alive – Self Titled

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Man Alive is still trying to prove that good old fashion punk is still alive and well. Their self titled album is definitely worth looking as the music is fast, and although catchy, it doesn’t cater to the radio scene.

1 Liner: Yuca – Self Titled

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Everything about Yuca’s self titled debut album, from the soaring alternative rock guitar to the matching vocals, screams ‘the next big thing’. This album has everything that both classic rock fans and newer alternative fans with love.

There are so many ways to lead off a review of the new Weezer album that it’s hard to choose between talking about the fact that this is the 3rd self titled album in a different color or how musically the band has changed again to mix the old with the new.

Monday, May 26th, 2008

You know you’ve been doing this awhile when you start running out of colors for your album cover. The red album is interesting, because in some ways it scratches so many of the itches that fans have had but in some ways it just misses the mark. Chances are this will be a hit or miss for most people.

1 Liner: Telograph – Self Titled EP

Monday, May 19th, 2008

With similar qualities to other major artists Keane, Snow Patrol and even Starsailor, Telograpgh is poised to make an impact when people finally catch on. The album is a mellow rockers dream complete with strong, deep vocals and ballad-esque songs.

Full Review: Dizmas – Self Titled

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Dizmas are at an interesting point in their career with their new self titled album. The jump from indie to major is a huge one which doesn’t always go according to plan of attracting new fans while keeping the older ones.

1 Liner: The Heyday – Self Titled

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Like striking gold in an open field, discovering The Heyday was equally as unlikely but equally as rewarding. Both musically and lyrically the band is the equivalent of a summer day, driving down the highway without a care. The pop punk is very slick and catchy but still feels real and grounded.

1 Liner: Cartel – Self titled

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Boring, repetitive, and emotionless. These are just a few words you might use to describe the second full length from a band who has all the potential to offer something much better than what they have.
